A major milestone has been achieved by one of the senior leaders of the International Karate Alliance KyokushinRyu, as Shihan Phillip Moustache has officially been appointed Director of the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) of Seychelles.

The appointment was announced by the Office of the President and officially took effect on 1 May 2026.

Widely respected both in the financial sector and the international Kyokushin community, Shihan Phillip Moustache currently serves within IKAK as International Council Member, Technical Director, and Africa Continental Director. His appointment marks another proud moment for the organization, highlighting the caliber of leadership represented within the global KyokushinRyu network.

Shihan Moustache brings more than four decades of distinguished experience in banking regulation, financial supervision, compliance, and anti-money laundering. A graduate of the University of Salford in the United Kingdom and a Fellow Member of the International Compliance Association, he has long been recognized for his contribution to strengthening financial governance in Seychelles.

Throughout his career with the Central Bank of Seychelles, he served in several senior positions, including research, bank supervision, compliance leadership, and eventually Director of the FIU. His work played an important role in advancing national frameworks for anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism.

Internationally, Shihan Moustache has represented Seychelles in high-level seminars and regulatory workshops organized by institutions such as the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, focusing on financial investigations, risk-based supervision, and regulatory compliance.

Within IKAK, his influence extends far beyond administration. As Africa Continental Director and Technical Director, he has been instrumental in supporting organizational development, strengthening technical standards, and expanding KyokushinRyu activities across Africa.

The appointment stands as a significant achievement not only for Shihan Phillip Moustache personally, but also for the international KyokushinRyu community, whose leaders continue to make meaningful contributions both inside and outside the martial arts world.

The International Karate Alliance KyokushinRyu extends its congratulations to Shihan Phillip Moustache and wishes him continued success in his new role serving the nation of Seychelles.
